Support

CharacterPal has several functions. The keyboard section allows you to view the special characters that you can type on your keyboard. When you hover over a character, it shows you the keyboard combo. Since different keyboards have different layouts, you can set your keyboard layout on the back of the widget.

CharacterPal also includes HTML codes and URL Escape codes. These work the same way as the keyboard section. You hover over a character to see its code. You can also click on a character to copy its code to your clipboard for pasting somewhere else.

On the back, you can change the font face for the characters in the display. However some of the fonts don't have all of the characters that are included in CharacterPal. For these characters that aren't in the fonts, a generic font will be used.

CharacterPal allows you to enable the use of the widget on your Desktop (outside the Dashboard layer). For this to work, you have to restart Dashboard. To use the widget outside of Dashboard, start dragging it and then use Dashboard's keyboard shortcut (F12 by default) to disable it. The widget will come to the Desktop and you can use it there. If you want to get it back into Dashboard, simply start dragging it and activate Dashboard.

To use drag-and-drop support, simply grab a character with your mouse. Then, while holding down the mouse button, hit the Dashboard keyboard shortcut (F12 by default), and drop the character where you want to use it.
